I was wondering if this has something to do with the way that Windows users/ permissions work. But not being able to paste from native Windows Photo is a pretty serious problem, particularly bc it causes Krita to crash by closing the window so we can't even report the error and the team isn't able to duplicate it when we've submitted reports. As you noted in your edit to this post, when you put the image elsewhere you were able to copy then paste it into Krita. What I have figured out is that the problem seems to stem from copying & pasting directly from the native Windows Photo app. Note that we never had the issue on prior Krita versions. (I'm on windows 11 btw)Īpologies for posting in this old thread but it was the closest I found to the same issue that me and others on our design group are still having (& have had for months) with the newest version of Krita on Windows 11. I hope this never happens again but I still want to know if other ppl are experiencing something similar. It then worked, I don't think it was a fix, I'm sure that it was a glitch because I had copied and pasted other references onto the canvas from photos aswell. I then tried to copy the picture I was originally intending to use but from snip and sketch instead of photos. It was about to show me the report to windows thing but it just closed on me again. After some more re-trying I tried to copy and paste something I that was already pasted in there, it then crashed again. Idk if this is some bug but I'd like to know if other ppl are experiencing this and if there's a way to fix it. This also happens at times when I try to past in a a reference through the reference tool, but mostly when I try to remove them. I've been using krita since 2020 so I'm sure of what I'm doing. I even checked to see of maybe the keyboard shortcut was changed. I'm on the latest version and even tried re-downloading it. I'm gonna try with Mingw tomorrow or in next days, but for now that's it.I'm trying to paste in a reference I made onto the canvas, but instead of pasting it krita responds with "could not download : Protocol " " is unkown" and after a few re-tries it just closes krita, it doesn't even give the "report to windows" pop up. And then there is an option to debug (that I can't do without the proper code). And crashes a lot.Ĭrash looks like that: everything freezes, then there is a info box from Visual Studio c++ Runtime Library that there were an runtime error and Krita requested the Runtime to terminate in an "unusual way". There is enough space for saving on my disk, and autosaving "sometimes" works, but usually not. Krita still reluctant to autosave, but it autosaved two times (not relevant with those two crashes, though: one crash was just after autosave and my save, and the other was irrelevant, like half an hour later or so). (Also, there is no new crash log for today in AppData/Local/kritacrash.log) I didn't lost a lot of progress, fortunately, but I heavily rely on this feature and it's the first time it failed for me. Where those files could go? (I checked in Krita temp directory, but unsuccessfully they aren't in user resource folder (no "templates" folder) or in Krita installation folder/templates/.source directory, I don't know where to check next). , and now there is no such thing even though there is an hour gap between my two saves. Usually after such process I have at least three files: two saved by me ( filename.kra, filename_001.kra) and one autosaved. There are no autosave files for either the previous version or the newer one. I have autosave feature set to 3 minutes, so I didn't worry too much, but I realized that Krita didn't autosave at all. I opened a template Japanese-En animation two hours ago and started painting, one hour ago I saved it (with my own filename), and like a 10 minutes ago I saved it again incrementally.
